What do you get when Barry White and Michael Jackson defy the basic laws of nature and produce offspring?

Unfound by American Idol, Tay Zonday has been setting youtube on fire with his deep voice and original hits. To call him a one hit wonder would be considered insane by most. A young man chases his dream of becoming the next pop idol via the internet. Enjoy Tay’s hot single, Chocolate Rain.

NVIDIA CK804 and Alsa

Posted on Monday 30 July 2007

For anyone out there that is having trouble getting digital sound to work with the nVidia Corporation CK804 AC’97 Audio Controller chipset, the following patch should alleviate some of your woes. The default nforce card configuration assigns the digital output to the wrong device. I spent many weeks trying to get to the bottom of this issue, and finally got some help from one of the alsa developers. Good luck, and if there are any questions, don’t hesitate to ask!

Nforce alsa patch

After installing this patch, use alsamixer to ensure that the IEC958 channel is not muted, and the IEC958 volume setting is 0.

Place a DVD in your machine and execute the following command to verify proper spdif operation: mplayer dvd:// -ao alsa:device=spdif -ac hwac3

A weekend in Paris..

Posted on Sunday 1 July 2007

Our photos from our recent trip to Paris are now in the photo gallery. We managed to see all of the tourist destinations, and covered a great portion of the city; most of which was done by foot. Paris is extremely pedestrian friendly and contrary to popular American opinion, the French were quite friendly.

Detroit Zoo Nostalgia

Posted on Thursday 28 June 2007

As a child growing up in Southeast lower Michigan, there was plenty of great local television programming that still bring back memories today. This video provides a glimpse into the inner workings of the Detroit Zoo. Full of witty banter, most early 80s metro Detroit residents will remember this piece of brilliant advertising.

It’s just like…

I know that most people don’t believe that a simple commercial could possibly drive them to shop at a particular store… I’m willing to bet that by the time you’ve finished this video, not only will you already be at the Montgomery Flea Market, but you may have already checked out the layaway options on a new living room set or dinette.

A long long time ago..

Cafemartin.com has been offline for some time now while I was in the process of updating the server. The time has finally come for me to fire the old site back up and reclaim the largest piece of the internet.. Or the 13 loyal viewers that I once had. Hopefully there’s something worthwhile that I can place on here in the near future. I will attempt to publish interesting and fun links for everyone’s enjoyment. In the mean time, check out the photo gallery.   Photo Gallery
